I was showing a client houses yesterday in Media, Delaware County, PA and on our way through the borough we passed the Media Farmers Market right next to the Media Theater. We stopped by and picked up some fresh strawberries and sweet cherries. The farmers market is at the Media Theater, Monroe and Gayley Streets, every Thursday from 3-7pm. The farmers market is just one of the few local offers in Media. As we were driving through the borough, the State Street Blues Fest was also being advertised, which is on Saturday, June 12.
We hear about being “green” and eating locally, well farmers markets allow you to do both. You can buy produce that is green, meaning it hasn’t travelled far to get from the farmer’s land to your home, less travel time, means less gas used and less emissions from the vehicle that brought it to the market. By eating locally, you are supporting your neighbors and helping keep their farms in business.
If you know of any other farmers markets in Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County or the Philadelphia Area, let me know!
